Nitor Wins HSL's Public Tender for Park and Ride Solution
Nov 27, 2014, 12:17 PM
Helsinki Region Transport (HSL) and the agile software company Nitor have signed a contract on the development and delivery of the park & ride information system. The park & ride concept in general responds to the congestion of the main fairways of the Helsinki region and the growth forecasts of the region by directing private car and bike traffic to park & ride and further to the public transportation.
In the development program, an open data solution is developed to HSL in order to produce, refine, deliver, manage and support the park & ride data. Nitor's bid was selected the winner in a public tender from within 14 competitors. According to HSL, the technical architecture and flexible hosting solution respond to the needs of the development program in an optimal way.
The full digital solution delivery covers designing the user experience and architecture as well as agile development, deployment and solution lifecycle services based on DevOps model.
The park & ride information system is based on an open data approach because HSL's target is to provide the park & ride information for the utilisation of various stakeholders. The public nature of the program is underlined by the fact that it is also developed as an open source project.
